AAMC — Asset Management Awareness (AM-governed)

AAMC is the awareness level within the SSAMM Academy pathways. It is designed to build a shared language and a solid foundational understanding of Asset Management.

The emphasis is on the normative governance framework (governance, legitimacy, and line-of-sight) required to position Maintenance and technical decision-making consistently within an Asset Management context.

This is particularly relevant for professionals and organisations that are implementing or strengthening

What is WPiAM and what do “AAMC / CTAM” mean?

WPiAM (World Partners in Asset Management) is an international partnership of professional not-for-profit asset management associations that maintains a global certification scheme to support globally comparable asset management competence.

Within the scheme, different levels exist, including:

  • AAMC (Awareness in Asset Management Certificate): an awareness level intended to build shared language and foundational understanding of asset management.
  • CTAM (Certified Technical Specialist in Asset Management): a technical specialist level for people proficient in applying specific and essential asset management activities within a relevant domain.

SSAMM is a Recognised Training Partner (RTP) and provides WPiAM-aligned education supporting competence development and portfolio readiness. However, the official WPiAM designation/certification is awarded externally under the WPiAM scheme via endorsed certifying organisations.

Certificate and boundary

  • Upon completion, the participant receives a SSAMM course certificate (completion/attendance).
  • As a Recognised Training Partner (RTP), SSAMM may also issue the AAMC certificate within the training domain in accordance with the applicable RTP framework.
  • This AAMC certificate issued by SSAMM is separate from the WPiAM designation and does not constitute a designation judgement or designation decision.
  • The WPiAM AAMC designation and the related designation certificate are awarded exclusively externally under the applicable WPiAM scheme
