SSAMM Academy — AAMC & CTAM (internationally aligned pathways)
Asset Management and Maintenance are well known in many organisations, yet in practice they are still too often “decoupled”: governance and legitimacy on one side, execution and evidence on the other. This is exactly where competence development tends to stall — not because of a lack of standards, but because of a lack of line-of-sight and demonstrability.
SSAMM Academy addresses this through an explicit positioning principle:
- AM-governed: the ISO 55000 series provides the normative governance framework (governance, legitimacy, and line-of-sight).
- Maintenance-centred: Maintenance is the application layer where evidence and artefacts are created (cases, decision records, process architecture, KPIs, competence evidence).
Asset Management is the normative governance framework.
Maintenance is the application layer.
It is explicitly not a full ISO 55001 implementation course, and not an executive-only board programme.
Important: participation is possible per module. You may therefore follow individual modules (subject to intake and entry level), or complete the full learning pathway.
AAMC — Awareness in Asset Management Certificate
For professionals and teams who want to build a shared language and a foundational understanding of Asset Management, with a focus on governance, alignment, and line-of-sight.
What you build:
- Concepts and rationale: value, alignment, leadership (ISO 55000 governance layer)
- Role awareness: interfaces between disciplines and responsibilities
- A solid foundation for further development towards CTAM
- AMC is available as a one-day training (8 hours, including breaks), in-company only and on request.
CTAM — Certified Technical Specialist in Asset Management
For technically accountable managers and maintenance professionals who want to position their practice and responsibilities within an AM framework, with emphasis on evidence and artefact creation.
What you develop:
- Module-based participation (follow per module, not per block) with demonstrable progress
- Competence development and portfolio readiness (professional, practice-oriented)
- Maintenance as the application layer within AM governance (line-of-sight in decision-making and execution)
AAMC is delivered as a one-day training (8 hours, including breaks). Until 8 September 2026, AAMC is in-company only and on request; after that we will re-plan and publish the schedule.
CTAM is delivered as a full learning route and equals 5 ECTS (≈120 hours), depending in part on your existing Knowledge, Skills and Competences in the field of Maintenance & Asset Management (M&AM) at the start.
Why this fits organisations implementing Asset Management
These pathways are designed for professionals and organisations that are implementing or strengthening Asset Management (for example in line with ISO 55001), and that need:
- a shared language between governance and execution
- demonstrable competence development (evidence-based)
- a practical translation of line-of-sight into decisions, processes, and maintenance practice
The programme therefore supports the people and competence dimension of Asset Management, without claiming to be a complete implementation course.
Who is this for? (clear boundary)
Primarily intended for:
- Technically accountable managers who want to strengthen their Asset Management competence
- Maintenance professionals (MM/ME/MS) who want to position Maintenance within an AM framework
- Asset Managers with technical accountability (not only corporate portfolio level)
Not primarily intended for:
- Board-level strategic AM governance as a standalone topic
- Full AMS implementation projects (ISO 55001 implementation programmes)
- Executive-only programmes
What is WPiAM and what do “AAMC / CTAM” mean?
WPiAM (World Partners in Asset Management) is an international partnership that maintains a global certification scheme for asset management competence (Global Certification Scheme). The scheme includes different levels.
- AAMC: an awareness level (shared language and foundational understanding of asset management)
- CTAM: a technical specialist level (professional deepening and scheme-aligned preparation)
SSAMM is a Recognised Training Partner (RTP) and provides WPiAM-aligned education supporting competence development and portfolio readiness. SSAMM does not perform the designation assessment: the official WPiAM designation/certification is awarded externally under the WPiAM scheme via endorsed certifying organisations.
SSAMM is recognised within this international scheme as a Recognised Training Partner (RTP). This means the training offer has been reviewed as suitable for preparation aligned to these levels.
Certification boundary (clear and verifiable)
- The SSAMM pathways are aimed at preparation for AAMC and CTAM and at portfolio readiness.
- SSAMM does not perform the designation assessment. The official designation/certificate within the international scheme is awarded externally according to the scheme rules.
- Upon successful completion of the training and module assessments, you receive the Certificate of Completion (training) (SSAMM – PPM&AM). This is a training outcome and not a WPiAM designation. The official WPiAM designation assessment and award are performed externally under the WPiAM scheme.
In-company (for organisations)
Organisations may also purchase these pathways as an in-company cohort programme. This is particularly relevant when you want to:
- develop a shared language and working approach
- embed competences across the organisation
- standardise evidence and artefact creation around Maintenance and Asset Management
How it works in practice
- SSAMM LMS stands for SSAMM Learning Management System (LMS): our central learning environment for all education and assessment materials and for artefact creation.
- The SSAMM Knowledge Library (ISBN publications) is available as web text behind a secure login.
- The website explains positioning, scope, quality assurance, audience boundaries, and the enrolment process.
